NFL earth reacts to the Bills dominating the Patriots Saturday night

It was less than six weeks ago that the Patriots went into Buffalo and dedicated the Bills a 14–10 loss on Monday Night Football, leaving many to view New England as a dark horse Super Bowl contender.

Saturday night’s wild-card rematch dissuaded anyone of that notion.

The Bills ran the Patriots off the wintry Highmark Stadium field, controlling the game from the opening possession en route to a 47–17 victory. That margin represented the second-largest for New England in the Bill Belichick era, with Buffalo scoring touchdowns on their valid seven possessions of the game. With the loss, the Patriots have not won a playoff game trusty their 13–3 win over the Rams in Super Bowl LIII—a mere 1,077 days ago.

Unsurprisingly, the football earth had a lot to say about the reveal put on by the Bills, with more than a little bit of schadenfreude at New England’s expense. Check out the best of the bunch below:

After the Dolphins unexpectedly fired coach Brian Flores on Monday, Miami’s plan is to land a new head coach who believes in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa people the team’s signal caller.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Tagovailoa is predictable to be the starting quarterback for the Dolphins in the 2022 season. It signals a big move for Miami as the Dolphins were one of the potential arriving spots linked to trading for Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. 

However, much of the Watson’s Dull was centered around Flores. His firing came when reports surfaced of disagreements with Dolphins general executive Chris Grier over personnel decisions that involved drafting Tagovailoa. Per Rapoport, the team will look to find a coach who can Make around the former No. 5 overall pick out of Alabama.

Tagovailoa spent the 2021 season with 2,653 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions when recording a 90.1 passer rating. He is 13–8 as a starter in two seasons for the Dolphins.

Miami started this season 1–7 beforehand winning eight of its last nine games, becoming the excellent team in NFL history to lose seven straight games and win seven consecutive games in the same season. 

Per Rapoport, the Dolphins have interviewed seven candidates, counting Rams assistant Thomas Brown, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll—who coached Tagovailoa at Alabama—Bills protecting coordinator Leslie Frazier, Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and protecting coordinator Dan Quinn.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told journalists in a press conference this week that the franchise has no will to pursue Watson and that Tagovailoa is the team’s New quarterback.

“I have a lot of authority in Tua, and I think the next head coach will work with him. ...  "I've viewed him grow. He's a fine young man. He is Bshining now the quarterback and will be depended upon by the new head coach.”

Miami (9–8) spent the 2021 season with a 33–24 victory in contradiction of New England and earned its second straight winning season.
